Also, I wanted to share some quotes about what our students expect to learn from this experience:
"It would mean a great deal to be able to serve students who may not have any access to school counseling services (or anything resembling that profession). It is a blessing to be able to use the gifts I was given to reach out to others in a unique way."
"I expect to learn how to relate to all kids on different levels in different situations at any given time. I expect to learn how different children learn and how to relate to international teachers, in comparison to schools in the United States."
"A smaller country like Belize, would present an opportunity to take a look at life that I cannot even imagine. I cannot say what I would expect to learn because I do not have any expectations of the country. What I can bring to the experience is a senese of the goodwill our country possesses and that we want to share with the world."

CEHD Teach Belize
It has been almost two semesters of planning, and we are getting ready to ship to Belize May 1, 2011! Our crew consist of 13 students in K-12 Education, 2 interns in Higher Education, and 2 students in School Counseling. Our 2 faculty advisers are Dr. Sandra Duncan and Dr. Margaret Pentecost. The 2011 International Teaching Experience in Belize allows students to travel internationally, while teaching in two different school sites and participating in cultural excursions that center around life in Belize. During the course of the teaching experience students will have the opportunity to spend three days teaching at Red Bank and three days teaching in Independence.
In an increasingly global society, it is crucial for today's teachers to experience different cultures, teaching practices, and approaches to education. This experience will allow participants the opportunity to teach culturally diverse students, and experience first hand the rewards and challenges.
